My experience

Without listing every pet I have had or currently own, I can confidently say I have no problem dealing with any animal. I have owned reactive dogs, nervous rabbits, disabled birds, a very broad spectrum of animals!

In my previous job I was very lucky to be able to train in a grooming salon, being signed off after 4 months of hard work and many dogs later was such a dream for me! I was trained to bath, brush, nail clip, paw pad trim and hygiene area trim all dogs, even the extra nervous ones. Some of my favourite dogs to do were the dogs โ€‹

that came in very anxious their first time but each time would get more and more confident with me as time went on. I love being a part of a dogs journey through their time in a salon and hope to give many more dogs good experiences!I have also previously been in charge of the care, feeding and handling of multiple small animals. I pride myself on being a small animal care nerd, being able to tell you every RSPCA and Blue cross guideline for each pet I've worked with, including suitable and affordable options for their welfare.I was very lucky that from the age of 12, I was able to work at a Racing stables in Kineton for a few years until she relocated to Devon. This allowed me to have a strong work ethic and stronger understanding of correct animal care to high standards!

Story behind our logo

I think one of the most important part for Barks & Binkies for me, was to start up a business which would incorporate my dog Nena. Nena came to unexpectedly into my workplace with a boy who was going to be made homeless if he did not re-home Nena. Being an animal lover, I quickly texted my parents and Nena was asleep in my bed that night. She really came at the perfect time for me as I was going through a rough patch with my mental health, but she never failed to make me laugh. Whether that was stealing my socks, jumping on the bed and into my arms or even when she'd slobber all over me while giving me kisses. I was so lucky to have met her.

Unfortunately, it came to our attention that Nena was struggling with a degenerative ligament disease in both back legs. Due to the nature of he breed and build, the decision was made to have her put to sleep at 2 years old. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't think about Nena, so I thought it would be fitting to have a logo inspired by one of my favourite photos of her.
